Just about Legal Reviews
This branch of law covers personal injuries and the person who handles these types of cases is called a personal injury attorney. They are the legal person that represents the injured person in the civil law system. If you have been injured by a person or company you are entitled to sue those who you believe caused the injury no matter how serious the injury is. In the United States if you have been injured by intentional or negligent actions you can sue them under a body of common law referred to as the tort law system. Civil law and tort law systems are designed specifically to put the injured person back into the same position they would have been in if they had not been injured. One example is if a person has been injured and is experiencing pain and suffering, has incurred medical expenses, and damages they can sue who caused this injury to recover money to pay for the expenses.
When you have been injured you will need to hire a personal injury lawyer who will take down all the information about the injury, what expenses are occurring now and if any will be occurring in the future, any pain and suffering now and in the future, loss wages if any, etc. Once the personal injury attorney has all the information they will file the papers that are required with the court to institute the impending lawsuit. Many times it is common for both parties to settle out of court during the litigation. If both parties cannot reach an agreeable settlement the case would go to trial.
Before the case gets to the personal injury litigation phase the attorney will help you, referred to as the plaintiff, prove how you were injured and how the person you are suing is responsible whether it was through intentional wrong or negligence on their part. Most attorneys in the United States and Canada work on a contingent fee basis which basically means that the attorney will only get paid if you win your case. When you win the personal injury lawyer will receive a percentage of the settlement you won. Personal injury attorneys may represent you if you have been injured as a result of medical malpractice, a slip-and-fall incident, car accident, or assault and battery. Once you have hired a personal injury lawyer they will take care of all the paperwork, any doctor visits they need you to go to, and any witness statements in regards to the injury.

SAN DIEGO (Nov. 10, 2009) – Proposals by two San Francisco Bay Area legislators that would impose even harsher penalties against repeat drunken-driving offenders would be overkill, prominent local attorney Kerry Steigerwalt, owner of Pacific Law Center, told a television audience today. In an interview broadcast on KNSD, Channel 7/39, Steigerwalt said the criminal justice system and the state Department of Motor Vehicles already have measures in place to adequately punish repeat offenders. Steigerwalt was interviewed by KNSD reporter Gene Cubbison in the fallout of a highly publicized case in Northern California in which a Burlingame man still had a valid driver’s license when he was charged with his ninth DUI offense recently. State Senators Leland Yee and Jerry Hill told the San Mateo County Times that more laws are needed to automatically strip multiple offenders of their licenses. Steigerwalt told Cubbison that California already has some of the strictest laws in the country against repeat offenders and that judges and the DMV already can strip a repeat offender of their license for from three years to life. -There are adequate parameters in place within which to address the problem without getting into a 3-Strikes scenario,- said Steigerwalt. Steigerwalt, who has over three decades of criminal defense experience in San Diego County ranging from drunken driving to death penalty cases, said any new laws would be, at best, duplicative. -There would be constitutional challenges that would probably prevail,- he said. -Why should we spend this time imposing another law over one that already exists?-

Civil Law
Civil law deals with the enforcement of an oral or written contract. This would only mean that a certain entity is often involved in other cases except the commission of a crime. A wrongful act wherein the other party asks for damages is also under the civil law. When we mean civil law, it does not involve any crime. Civil cases often require more work for the lawyer or attorney because they need to gather evidences from different sources.
Most of the time, civil cases involve disputes between a person or an organization. A person or an entity who claims on their legal compensation or benefit is often called a plaintiff. On the other hand, the person or organization that the plaintiff requires the damages is often called the defendant, litigants or parties. Usually, the plaintiff often requires the defendant under the rules of law to provide him the respect and legal obligations deemed to them. A defendant is often required to give the plaintiff what is due to them.
